Location: San Francisco, California

Launch Date: December 5, 2004

In the company’s own words, what is it?
Digg is a user driven social content website. Ok, so what the heck does that mean? Well, everything on digg is submitted by the digg user community (that would be you). After you submit content, other digg users read your submission and digg what they like best. If your story rocks and receives enough diggs, it is promoted to the front page for the millions of digg visitors to see.

Outside quote about company:
BusinessWeek online says, “Those in the know believe that Digg could become a new kind of clearinghouse for news and that its interactive community concept could snowball. That could be a jackpot for Rose, who owns 30% to 40% of the company (he won’t specify) — a massive stake for a founder in a world in which investors routinely demand up to 20% with every outlay.”

Features:
*Digg, or help promote
*Bury, or help remove spam
*Comment on stories
*Digg and bury comments you like or dislike
*Track your friends’ activity throughout the site
*Share a video or news story with a friend

  • […] Digg for example launched in December 2004 with $2,000, a single hosted server ($99 monthly), free open source software, and a ‘pay-as-you-go’ outsourced developer ($10 hourly from Elance). By spring of 2006, Digg was serving more than 100 million page views a day, with 90 servers, and a staff size of only 15. Other examples of doing more with less and using viral marketing/advertising are, Google AdSense (advertising solution), Amazon.com, Flickr (photo sharing), YouTube (video sharing), MySpace (social networking), and QOOP (mash-up for photo books and posters). I have never visited your website or heard of it before this morning.

I received an email (spam?) that has my name and complete home address in the subject line from someone at this site.

I have never posted my address on line anywhere. I never gave it to you.

    The email I received read;

Jules, Maybe you have check this out? http://digg .com/u1SMzz
    blk titan
    Take care,

I do not know of any such person and as I stated, never heard of your website.

Again in the subject line was my home address which is very disturbing.

Please investigate this immediately for me and get back to me ASAP to avoid me taking further steps.

    Thank you.
    Jules

Have you ever considered including far more movies for your blog posts to keep the readers more entertained? I suggest I just read by means of the entire write-up of yours and it was quite excellent but due to the fact I’m more of a visual learner,I discovered that to be more helpful. Just my my thought, Very good luck
